2009 High School Scholarship Competition
ATC Announces Summer Fun Days For 2009 High School Grads
2008 High School Scholarships Awarded
ATC Students Attend Career Fair
ATC Students Win At Competition
ATC Students At Philadelphia National Auto Show

· Wednesday January 28th @ 6:00PM ATC's Warminster Campus.
· Wednesday January 21st @ 6:00PM ATC's Exton Campus.
The competition for 2009 high school graduates will include five scholarships
per campus: (2) 100% tuition, (1) 50% tuition, and (2) 25% tuition. The
total value (both campuses) of these scholarships is approximately$200,000.000
ATC’s Scholarship Competition differs from many other scholarship contests offered to seniors. Instead of relying on grades or recommendations, students take a mechanical aptitude test (no prior automotive experience required). We believe this is the best way to recognize and reward those students who will excel in the hands-on advanced technology of the automotive industry.
The top test scorers will be invited back later in the school year to interview with ATC’s independent scholarship committee which will select the winners.
Seniors taking this test do not need to be enrolled at ATC. We highly encourage any high school senior considering post-secondary automotive education to participate in the competition as it is an excellent opportunity to potentially pay for part or all of your tuition costs!
Parents: An information and question session will be provided while the seniors are taking the test, a great chance to learn more about what ATC can offer your student.
Please complete
and submit the scholarship
competition reservation form on this page to be included in the event.

Approximately $200,000 in scholarship money is being awarded to these deserving
high school seniors. The winners all performed well on ATC’s scholarship
test,
and were invited back to ATC to interview with an independent scholarship
committee, which consisted of automotive professionals. Their willingness
to learn and work hard made them stand out in the interviewing process.
ATC congratulates the 2008 High School Scholarship Winners and looks forward

On
March 20, 2007, almost 100 students from both the Exton and Warminster Campuses
attended a Career Fair held at the headquarters of the Automobile Dealers
Association of Greater Philadelphia (ADAGP). “This is a great opportunity
for both ATC students and area dealers,” explained Kathy McLaughlin,
Director of Career Services for the Exton Campus. “It provides the
dealers with a great source for potential technicians and it offers the
students an opportunity to practice their interviewing skills.”
Linda Vetter, Director of Career Services for the Warminster Campus, agreed
and added, “I think everybody is happy they came today. Some of the
students already have second interviews scheduled.”
In fact, Bryan Konya, a recent ATC Warminster Campus graduate, received
a job offer from Audi of Willow Grove after talking to their Service Manager,
Pete Roque, at the Career Fair. “The Service Manager invited me to
his dealership for a second interview, where he offered me a job as a Service
Technician,” explained Bryan.
Bryan started his new job immediately upon graduating from ATC in April
2007. The Career Fair gave him, as well as many upcoming ATC graduates,
the opportunity to
find a good career within area dealerships.

the Warminster Campus while Joshua Johnston,
from the Exton Campus waits his turn.
Students
offered the following opinions about the event:
“The Career Fair is a great opportunity to talk to people
and find out what I need to do to get a job.”
- John Boyle Jr., Exton Campus
“I like the Career Fair because I don’t have to drive around
to places
looking for a job. I can just come here and do all of my interviewing.”
- Brandon Wilton, Warminster Campus
“This is a great event because I like to keep my options open. It’s
a good opportunity to network with all of the dealers here today.”
- Matt Michalak, Warminster Campus - Evening Student
Career
Advice from Dealers:
At the recent Career
Fair held at the Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia
(ADAGP), dealers were delighted with the professionalism of attending ATC
students. “The students came prepared and ready to find a job,”
said Pat Regan, Service Director at Fred Beans of Doylestown, PA. “I
am impressed with their overall high quality.”
The dealer attendees all agreed the solid educational foundation ATC provides
is important. Additionally, they offered advice to ATC students looking
for an industry job:
“How you dress
for an interview reveals a lot. If you dress up, then I know you are really
interested in getting a job because you are making an effort to impress
me.”
Walter McCloskey, Jr.- Shop Foreman, Rothrock Chevrolet, Springfield,
PA
“Don’t feel nervous during a job interview. The ATC staff will
fully prepare you for getting a job if you pay attention in school.”
Anthony Palidona - Technician, Rothrock Chevrolet, Springfield, PA
and recent ATC graduate
“One of the main things I look for when hiring students is their ability
to project confidence even if they have no experience outside of ATC. But
remember, there is a difference between projecting confi dence in your ability
to learn, and believing you already know everything.”
Tim Connor - Service Manager, Saturn of Springfield, PA
“I am looking for a motor-head; someone who loves cars and enjoys
working on them. I don’t need an electronic genius. I just need someone
who has experienced the basics at school and is willing to continue to learn
at my dealership.”
Pete Roque - Service Manager, Audi Willow Grove, PA
“Keep your license squeaky clean. We can’t hire anyone with
an infraction sooner than three years, and that is becoming more and more
common for dealerships.”
Joseph Keagy - Service Operations, Fred Beans Doylestown, PA
The
Automotive Industry Planning Council (AIPC) selected ATC as the 2006 National
Award of Excellence Winner for its Specialized Automotive Technology Program
in the Post - Secondary Non-Manufacturer Affiliated Education category.
ATC was awarded the National Winner in 1999 and the National Runner-Up in
2005.
The AIPC is an Industry/Education partnership of the National Institute
for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), the National Automotive Technicians
Education Foundation (ASE/NATEF) and the Association for Career and Technical
Education. Each year, all ASE/NATEF Certifi ed Programs are invited to participate
in the competition. A national advisory group of industry leaders, vocational/technical
educators, and educational policy makers carefully examine a school’s
faculty and administration, as well as student accomplishments and recommendations,
in order to determine award winners.
“I think this is a very important award for a small school like us,”
said Steve Hiscox, President and Chief Executive Officer of ATC. “It
means we are recognized within the automotive industry as one of the fi
nest programs in the country and it says a lot about our focus on quality
of education, the success of our students, and our reputation.“
Forty automotive teachers from high schools and vocational schools throughout the Delaware Valley attended ATC’s February 22, 2007 Instructor Seminar. They learned about servicing hybrid vehicles and diagnostics for computerized engine control sensors. Taught by Al Dambrauskas and Dave Scaler from the Mechanic’s Education Association, the training focused on imparting practical, useful information to aid teachers working in the automotive classroom or in the field.

Tom Molnar, Automotive Teacher, Burlington
County Institute of Technology,
Westampton, NJ
“These guys know what’s pressing in the industry,” explained
Tom Molnar, teacher at the Burlington County Institute of Technology in
Westampton, NJ. “They teach us technology that’s buried deep
in the books that we have questions about but don’t have the time
to research.”

Martin Christian, Automotive Teacher, Columbia-Montour Area Vo-Tech,
Bloomsburg, PA
In
addtion to learning about new technology, the high school teachers toured
ATC’s new Warminister Campus. “I like the school. Technology-wise
ATC is probably ahead of the industry,” said Martin Christian, teacher
at Columbia-Montour Area Vo-Tech in Bloomsburg, PA. “I often tell
my students to check out ATC, especially if they’re interested in
Hi-Performance. Nobody else really offers Engine Rebuilding and Machine
Shop like ATC does.”
For information about ATC’s programs, or to learn how your automotive
teacher can receive an invitation to ATC’s next workshop, contact
ATC’s Admissions Department at 800-411-8031 (Exton) or 877-411-8041
(Warminster).
ATC’s
Exton Campus sent a team of three students to compete in the Skills USA
Competition held at the Lehigh Valley Technical Center, Schnecksville, PA
on March 28, 2007. Mike Carosella, their Skills USA Advisor and ATC Instructor,
proudly reports that Terry Taglieri placed 1st in the Automotive Competition
and Crystal Mongan placed 3rd in the Collision Competition. Terry now qualifies
for the National Competition held in Kansas City, Missouri.
Great job, Terry, Crystal & Mike Carosella! ATC recognizes your hard
work and extra effort.
High
school seniors from across the Delaware Valley joined ATC on February 6,
2007 at the Philadelphia International Auto Show, an event produced and
owned by ATC’s partner, the Automobile Dealers Association of Greater
Philadelphia and held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
“The auto show is always a great opportunity for prospective automotive
students,” said Kim Ewing, Executive Director of Admissions at ATC.
“They are able to learn first hand about new technology and the direction
of the automotive industry. With more than 700 hundred vehicles from forty
different manufacturers on display, the auto show is truly an educational
experience.”

Jonathan Haigh, Father Judge High School,
Philadelphia, PA
Almost two hundred people attended ATC’s exclusive event, including
enrolled students prepared to begin classes at ATC upon their high school
graduation, as well as their parents and friends. In addition, thirty lucky
raffle winners won everything from car wax to jumper cables. Attendees also
heard career advice from guest speaker Steve Owens, Service Manager at Keystone
Motors Volvo located in Berwyn, PA.

ATC is committed to offering prospective students the opportunity to learn more about the automotive industry. By providing fun and educational events, ATC gives students interested in an automotive career the chance to talk to industry insiders as well as other students.
