Automotive Technology Program

Automotive TechnologyIn the Automotive Technology program, the following courses are taught:

  • Manual Drive Train & Axles
  • Electrical Systems
  • Air Conditioning & Heating
  • Engine Repair
  • Brakes

You’ll learn the theory of operation of transmissions and how to service them, along with basic maintenance, service, and repair of engine components and brakes. Engine repairs will also be covered.

The proper balance of class time and shop time allow you to enter the workforce with the tools needed to take on the job. Learn from experienced ASE certified instructors and get one-on-one training in our modern facilities using some of the latest equipment and technology available.

The Automotive Technology program can be completed in 64 weeks if you take daytime classes, and 84 weeks if you’re enrolled in the nighttime courses. In just under two years, you’ll have built a strong foundation at ATC and be fully prepared for real-world experiences.

Automotive and Hi-Performance Technology Program

This program includes:

  • Brakes
  • Engine Repair
  • Machine Shop
  • Advanced Machine Shop & Engine Rebuilding

Diagnose, recondition, and prepare major engine components for assembly, like cylinder heads, camshafts, and cylinder blocks. Practical shop exercises will focus on valve refacing, use of seat grinders, and repair and prevention of gasket issues.

Hi-performance equipment you’ll become familiar with includes:

  • Superflow SF-450 Flowbench
  • Mustang Chassis Dynamometer
  • Hines Legend Crankshaft Balancer

The Automotive and Hi-Performance Technology program can be completed in 80 weeks. You’ll have a thorough understanding of automotive engine principles and be able to maximize engine performance after taking this course.

Automotive and Diesel Technology Program

The courses taught in the Automotive and Diesel Technology program are:

The study of diesel fuel delivery systems and components, diesel air intake systems, injectors, and turbochargers will be covered in these courses. Practical shop work involves disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of injector nozzles and equipment.

If you’re intrigued by heavy-duty engines, then the diesel program may be the best choice for you. This program takes 80 weeks to complete, so in just under two years, you’ll have all the knowledge required regarding diesel engines.

Collision Repair Technology Program

Collision RepairWhen a car is in an accident, collision repair may be required to bring the vehicle back into working shape. As a collision repair technician, you’ll work on these vehicles and ensure they not only look great after an accident, but are functional, too.

Courses in this program include:

  • Welding & Non-Structural Damage Repair
  • Surface Preparation
  • Structural Damage Repair
  • Painting & Refinishing
  • Cost Estimating & Damage Repair

Hands-on practice centers on the fundamentals of repairing and straightening common types of metal damage, while applying plastic fillers. Learn to use hand tools, disc grinders, drills, hammers, and dollies, too.

There are more vehicles on the road than there have ever been, so collision repair technician is an in-demand job at this time. Learn from ASE and I-CAR certified instructors, and complete repairs on live vehicles in the shop.

Graduates from the program will be designated as I-CAR ProLevel Technicians, and receive certificates in these areas:

  • Estimator (EST)

  • Aluminum and Steel Welding Training and Certification

If you obtain employment with a Mercury/MerCruiser dealership, you’ll receive credit for Mercury Marine’s Marine Technician Fundamentals Course (MTF). This is a baseline requirement for becoming a certified technician with Mercury.
