Courses at ATC

The Automotive Technology program ensures you’ll receive the expertise necessary to become an entry-level technician. Join the workforce with the skills needed to succeed. Meanwhile, our Automotive and Hi-Performance Technology program will enhance your understanding of engine principles, and you’ll work with specialized equipment, like dynamometers, to understand how engines operate.

It takes just a few minutes to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and it can be done right through our website. This will determine whether you’ll be eligible for financial aid.

Automotive Technology Program

The objective of the Automotive Technology program is to acquire sufficient technical knowledge and experience in the general aspects of automotive service and repair. The goal is to be employable as an entry-level automotive technician at a repair shop, service center, or dealership.

Courses include:

  • Manual Drive Train & Axles
  • Brakes
  • Engine Repair
  • Suspension & Steering
  • Air Conditioning & Heating

Hi-Performance Technology Program

Gain an understanding of the mechanical and electronic aspects of automotive service and repair in our Hi-Performance Technology Program.

Courses include the ones mentioned above along with:

  • Machine Shop
  • Advanced Machine Shop & Engine Rebuilding

These courses involve the diagnosis, reconditioning, and preparation for assembly of major engine components, including the cylinder heads, camshafts, valve trains, pistons, and crankshafts.

Practice disassembling and reassembling cylinder heads, and learn about engine block boring, then gain additional knowledge in the advanced coursework. This includes turning on the Superflow Powermark engine dynamometer and gaining experience on various tools, like the Superflow SF-450 Flowbench and Mustang Chassis Dynamometer.

Diesel Technology Program

Diesel MechanicAs a diesel mechanic, you’ll need to know all about how diesel engines run.

  • Diesel Engines Course: Focus on the theory of operation, diagnosis, service, and repair of diesel engines with a focus on truck and automotive applications. Maintenance, service, and tune up procedures are covered using the specialized tools you’ll find in the diesel industry.
  • Diesel Fuel Systems: Study diesel fuel delivery systems and components. In addition to electronic engine controls, practical shop work involves the disassembly, inspection, and reassembly for injector nozzles.

Collision Reconditioning Technology Program

  • Welding & Non-Structural Damage Repair course – When a car has taken on damage as a result of an accident, a collision technician is there to provide the repairs that make it whole again. Hands-on practice will be done through welding projects, shaping mild and HSS steel, and aluminum.

Practical shop work involves use of hand tools, disc grinders, drills, hammers, and dollies. Continue on throughout the Collision program in courses like:

  • Surface Preparation
  • Structural Damage Repair, Painting & Refinishing
  • Cost Estimating & Damage Repair

Marine Service Technology Program

Our marine program incorporates technology and product familiarization of Mercury Marine, Honda Marine, and Yamaha Outboard, along with other well-known manufacturers. Learn the fundamental principles of electricity and magnetism, basic electrical circuits, and marine batteries.

  • Marine Mechanical Systems
